CUQ Brings Tech to Life: High School Students Explore Electronics in Hands-On Lab
30/06/2025City University Qatar (CUQ), in partnership with Ulster University, hosted AI Unlocked: Career Paths in Artificial Intelligence on 7th May 2025 at the Lusail Campus. The workshop, led by AI specialist Mirna Malaeb, introduced students to the fast-growing world of AI and how to prepare for future careers in this field.

The session covered essential AI concepts—such as machine learning, deep learning, and generative AI—and demonstrated how these technologies are already embedded in our daily lives, from recommendation systems and voice assistants to self-driving cars and real-time translation.
Mirna guided students through practical steps to start their AI journey: building core skills like critical thinking, data literacy, and ethical awareness, learning Python, and engaging with platforms such as Microsoft Learn, OpenAI Academy, and Coursera. She also emphasised the importance of curiosity, adaptability, and staying informed in a constantly evolving tech landscape.
The workshop highlighted that while automation may reshape some job roles, it will also create vast opportunities in AI, software development, FinTech, healthcare, and more. Above all, students were reminded that human qualities—like empathy, creativity, and ethical reasoning—are what set them apart in an AI-driven world.
