City University Qatar Hosts Future Tech Innovation Challenge Powered by Cisco Networking Academy
City University Qatar welcomed Grade 12 students and recent school graduates to the Future Tech Innovation Challenge on 4 August 2026, a one-day hackathon powered by Cisco Networking Academy.
The event gave participants the opportunity to explore key areas shaping the future of technology, including Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Computer Science and Networking, while experiencing university-level learning in a collaborative and hands-on environment.
Throughout the day, students worked in teams to respond to real-world challenges, develop innovative technology-based solutions and present their ideas. Participants were supported by City University Qatar academics, who provided guidance and mentorship as teams moved from brainstorming and problem-solving to developing and pitching their final concepts.
The challenge was designed to encourage creativity, teamwork, critical thinking and practical problem-solving while giving students greater insight into technology-related academic and career pathways.
Participants also had the opportunity to learn more about globally recognised Cisco certifications and the skills required for future careers in the digital and technology sectors.
The Future Tech Innovation Challenge forms part of City University Qatar’s commitment to creating engaging learning opportunities for young people and supporting the development of future-ready skills in line with Qatar’s growing digital and innovation landscape.
The day concluded with team presentations, recognition of participants and the celebration of the ideas, creativity and collaboration demonstrated throughout the challenge.
