City University Qatar Hosts Academic Workshops Across Key Fields

What makes someone overthink? How does an idea become a building? How can engineering transform healthcare? And how does law shape societies across borders?

These were some of the thought-provoking questions explored during a series of academic workshops hosted by City University Qatar throughout April at its campus in Lusail. Designed for prospective students and high school attendees, the workshops offered an engaging introduction to university learning through practical, subject-focused sessions led by faculty members across multiple disciplines.

The workshop series formed part of the university’s wider commitment to helping students explore future study pathways while gaining a closer understanding of how academic subjects connect to real-world industries, careers, and global challenges.

The series featured workshops in Psychology, Architecture, Biomedical Engineering, and Law, with each session offering a unique perspective into the field and the opportunities it presents.

The Psychology workshop, titled The Brilliant Brain and the Mistakes it Can’t Stop Making, explored how the brain influences human behaviour, decision-making, emotions, and everyday thinking patterns through interactive discussions and relatable examples.

The Architecture workshop introduced students to the creative and technical journey behind architecture, from design thinking and idea development to how concepts evolve into functional spaces and structures.

In the Biomedical Engineering workshop, attendees explored how healthcare and technology intersect, learning how engineering solutions and innovation are shaping the future of medicine, patient care, and modern healthcare systems.

The Law Masterclass offered insight into international law, ethics, justice, and legal decision-making, while introducing students to the role law plays in shaping societies, global systems, and international relations.

Throughout the series, participants had the opportunity to engage directly with academics, ask questions, and experience university-style learning beyond the traditional classroom setting. The workshops combined practical insights, real-world examples, and interactive discussions to create an engaging environment for exploration and discovery.
